China Implement Green Strategy- Cement, Forestry Industry Impacted

China's environmental crackdown.. See eco-seed's..

Repost:
China will close down over 2,000 energy-intensive and highly polluting factories within the next two months to catch up on its energy and carbon intensity reduction goals after falling back by 3.6 percent in the first quarter of the year.

The crackdown of 2,087 cement factories, steel mills and other power plants was the latest in a series of plans to increase the country’s energy efficiency. In August, the National Development and Reform Commission prevented 22 Chinese provinces from providing electricity at discounted prices to its energy-intensive industries.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said in a statement last August 8 that the factories to be closed are 762 cement plants, 279 paper mills, 175 steel mills and 84 leather manufacturing facilities.

Cement production alone spews out more carbon emission than any other industry, accounting for about 4 percent of total global carbon dioxide emissions. China produces 37 percent of the world’s cement, which contributes around 6 percent to 8 percent of the country’s emissions.
