Eco-impact of bottled water in Commons revealed by UK Body

The use of bottled water in the House of Commons in London has created a 12-tonne carbon footprint, it has been revealed.

The figure, in a report commissioned by the Commons authorities, covers the environmental impact of the bottles of water used by MPs and visitors every year.

A Commons Commission spokeswoman said there were practical and financial difficulties preADVERTISEMENTventing a switch to either tap water or water coolers.

The report, from environmental consultancy Best Foot Forward, was commissioned after protests from MPs on all sides at the Commons administration committee's decision to rule out a change to tap water.
